How to Reduce Image File Size Without Visible Quality Loss
Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP files for forms, email and websites: resize first, lower quality in small steps, pick the right format.
Resize first, then compress
File size depends mostly on pixel dimensions. A 4000 px wide photo shown at 1200 px wastes bytes. Resize to the largest size you actually need, then lower the quality.
Lower quality in small steps
For JPG and WebP, reduce quality 5โ10 points at a time and watch the file size. Stop when text edges or faces start to look soft.
Pick the right format
- JPG: photos and scans.
- PNG: screenshots, logos and transparency.
- WebP: usually smaller than JPG or PNG for the web.
Do it privately
The AnyTool image compressor and resizer run in your browser, so photos of IDs or documents are never uploaded to a server.
