Renovation Cost per Ping in Taiwan: Budget Ranges by Home Age

Typical Taiwan renovation budgets per ping by building age, how the budget splits across trades, and why to keep a 10-15% contingency.

Typical ranges per ping

The renovation budget tool uses ranges based on PRO360 market figures. They are planning numbers, not quotes: finish level, city and layout changes move the total.

  • Newer homes: about NT$30,000–50,000 per ping.
  • 5–10 years old: about NT$50,000–70,000 per ping.
  • 10–20 years old: about NT$60,000–80,000 per ping.
  • Over 20 years old: about NT$70,000–100,000 per ping, because plumbing, wiring and waterproofing often need replacing.

Example

A 30-ping home that is 15 years old at NT$60,000–80,000 per ping is NT$1.8–2.4 million before furniture and appliances.

Where the money goes

Demolition and structural work, plumbing and electrical, carpentry and cabinetry, flooring and tiles, painting, and design fees are the main lines. Older buildings put more of the budget into hidden work you cannot see afterwards.

Keep a contingency

Set aside 10–15% for surprises such as leaks found after demolition. The budget tool lets you add a contingency and see the total change.

Next step

Use the renovation budget estimator to enter your ping and building age, then collect at least three itemised quotes and compare them line by line.
