Taiwan Take-Home Pay Explained: What Is Deducted From Your Salary

How gross salary becomes net pay in Taiwan: labor insurance, National Health Insurance, voluntary pension and income tax, and how to estimate it.

Gross versus net

Your net monthly pay in Taiwan is the gross salary minus the employee share of labor insurance and National Health Insurance, any voluntary pension contribution, and income-tax withholding where it applies.

The main deductions

Rates and insured-salary grades are updated by the authorities, so the calculator uses the current published tables and shows the sources.

  • Labor insurance: based on the insured-salary grade, with the employee paying a share.
  • National Health Insurance: based on the insured amount, with extra charges for dependents.
  • Voluntary labor pension: you may contribute up to 6% of salary, which lowers taxable income.
  • Income tax: withheld monthly or settled at annual filing.

What employers pay on top

Employers pay their own share of insurance and the mandatory 6% pension contribution. These are not deducted from your pay but matter when you compare total package cost, which the employer-cost tool shows.

Estimate yours

Enter your gross monthly salary and the number of NHI dependents in the take-home pay calculator. Treat the result as a planning estimate and confirm special cases with the official agencies linked on the page.
